If I buy a deeded vacation ownership week in a good location, it will appreciate in value and I when I sell my week; I will have made a profit.

REALITY
Vacation ownership is not to be purchased as a real estate investment for profit. Although you may be able to make money, few people ever make money when they sell their vacation ownership interest. Vacation ownership is a product that should be purchased for the use and enjoyment you'll get from it. If you bought a vacation ownership week for $10,000, used it for 20 years, then sold it for $7,000, your net cost (cost based on purchase price only) would be just $3,000 for twenty, seven day vacations or $150 per weekly vacation (cost based on purchase price only). That's not too shabby considering you'll be staying in condominium style accommodations instead of a tiny hotel room.
